PUREOLOGY

I ALWAYS FEEL A LITTLE GUILTY WHEN I PHOTOGRAPH ANOTHER'S PHOTO.  DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS?  LOUIS N.

  1. Perfectly acceptable to me. The image is found art, merely a fragment of your total composition, and so a part of a larger picture. Your placing the image in a foreign setting as you have, removes it from being a faithful reproduction and makes it fair game. Warhol built his whole career on this type of appropriation.

  2. I totally agree with Blue Heron. Found art is a different category than the kind of reworking that Post Modernists were fond of. Actually much of the Post Modern reworking was ethically OK just self referential and boring.
