A little help.

Lena © Robert Sommers 2013

My friend Lena will be going to asia for several months in the winter and she needs a point and shoot camera. She has some eye issues and has personal difficulty focussing. She has expressed a wish for a light camera with good optics and color saturation. I think she wants to spend less than $600. Anybody have any recommendations? She was in our first show, had the cool photos of the people with the masks as you walked in the door. Has excellent compositional skills. But she shoots automatic. Help her out.

Thanks,

Robert

Personally, I'd go for the Canon G1X. ($600). But I'd also consider the Canon G15. Although it doesn't spec-out as high as the G1X, it's $150 less. ($450). Several of the Wedding photographers I work with use the G15 for their "road trip with the kids" camera. Their work cameras are Canon 5D's and Nikon D3's and D4's, so I trust their judgment.

Post Script: I'd love to see the above image with the background lighting blacked out.

  5. Check out the Nikon P7700 and let me know what you think. It is cheaper by $150 plus....than the Sony
