Sigma shots from Del Mar

Sizing up the jockey

  1. comments are not about your photographs-the images look over processed. They look like they were over sharpened, using the 'clarity' control in the RAW processor in CS. So I have no idea what the images actually look like. I am used to looking at your photos and usually they are tweaked, which normally would be a subjective decision, so I wouldn't normally comment on such. But since I am curious about the Sigma sensor, am wondering if you might consider sending me via FTP an unadulterated image at some point. I would like to see your flamingo shot for example, because I loved the colors and depth, two things I don't like in the two images above, so I am asking myself, "what am I looking at?" How much of this is a result of your knob twiddling and how much is it the camera on its' lonesome?

  3. In this case, the top two pics have been altered, with come clarity added to the light portion on the top one and a single tone map HDR on the bottom. The 2 dimensional effect you commented on earlier was a graphic look that I personally like. Not going to please everybody, so you got to please yourself, as Ricky Nelson would maybe say.

  4. Bottom photo is pretty true, with one or two luminance tweaks.

  5. I like these. On my screen, it looks like the center shot has a sort of odd color cast to it.
